The DD number, or Document Discriminator, is a code printed on California driver's licenses and state IDs. It usually appears near the bottom right corner and looks like this:
It encodes three things:
DDs do NOT appear on documents like Social Security cards, passports, or birth certificates.
They’re unique to official government-issued IDs:
Look at the ID and copy the full DD line — exactly as it appears. Example: 01/16/2020663RB/BBFD
Enter the DD into our web tool or send it via API. We’ll parse the string behind the scenes.
Our proprietary system extracts the embedded DMV office code and maps it to the official issuing location.
DMVerify returns the correct California DMV office, helping you spot fakes, mismatches, or suspicious entries.
